With Your Pet

Discover positive ways to change its behaviour.

& Landscaping Your Garden

What makes an attractive garden? Learn how to
use themes, styles, textures and colours to create
a pleasant space to enjoy.
WEDNESDAYS
9.45 - 11.45 - Homeopathy
Tutor: Caroline Melody
We will
learn about some remedies and how to treat common
ailments such as injuries, colds and tummy upsets
homeopathically.
1.15 - 3.15 - Tai Chi
Tutor:
Mike Henderson
This
course is open to all. The basis of the class
will be the Tai Chi Short Form. No experience
required.
THURSDAYS
9.45 - 11.45 - Gregorian Chant
Tutor:
Ben Whitworth. Learn to sing this music
of timeless beauty. Open to men and women. Continues
as a more advanced course in January.
1.15 - 3.15 - Map Reading
& Compass Use
Tutor: Malcolm Handoll (All Five Senses
Buschcraft and Ecotours).
This
course is classroom based ending with a short
field trip where skills gained are put into practice.
Continues as a more advanced outdoor-based course
in January, where each week will pose problems
to solve, such as micro-navigation, pacing, timing,
rescue and night exercises. (Also Saturday Fields
Trips, see below).
FRIDAYS
9.45 - 11.45 - In To Spin,
Tutor: Jan Judge.
A light-hearted
introduction to the skills of spinning, both on
the wheel and with the drop spindle, using wool
and a range of other fibres to create your own
unique yarns.
1.15 - 3.15 - Digital
Photography
Tutor: Doug Houghton.
Continues
as a more advanced course in January.
Fees
for the above 6 week. courses (excluding Saturday
field trips) - £36. Tea and cakes will be
available after each class and a soup and sandwich
lunch if booked in advance

Earth as a planet, tectonics, rocks and minerals,
stratigraphy and geologic time, fossils, ice ages,
as observed in Orkney field trips.
Explore Orkney's Hidden Gems (£36?)

Get
off the beaten track and explore the forgotten,
neglected or unknown countryside of Orkney. Each
week we'll explore a new area uncovering the history,
archaeology, wild plants, or whatever turns up!
Recognising Orkney's Birds through Sound,
Sight & Habitat (£50)

Tim Dean.
The
course aims to help participants recognise Orkney's
birds through sound, sight and habitat from the
depths of Winter to the highs of Summer.
Orkney
Archaeology - new discoveries & wider perspectives(£36)
Tutor:
Helen Woodsford-Dean BSc Hons, MSc
This
course is going to look at the recent archaeological
discoveries in Orkney, tying them into some of
the current popular theories of interpretation
and linking them to what was going on elsewhere
in the British Isles during the same period.
A lively course full of debate, discussion and
team work!
